Yesterday, the new constellation of Skellefteå coaches was ready. Relatively unexplored Andreas Falk makes Stefan Klockare and Stefan Hedlund a company in Skellefteå. But according to club general manager Erik Forssell, it is unclear who will be primarily responsible.

– We are doing a rough planning of how we want it, but we have not printed it yet. We will solve this in the future, but as it seems now, it will be a shared leadership among the three, “Erik Forssell told HockeyNews.se.

Forssell says the club has been following Andreas Falk for a while and that his qualities as players and leaders fit very well into what the club has sought.

– Andreas is a hockey expert who has a long experience as a player where he has been and won a lot. Andreas is curious and wants to learn new things all the time and knows the tactical game and has proven to be adept at developing individuals. It has a good clue of what is needed at this level. An important requirement, says Forssell.

14 years ago Andreas Falk joined Skellefteå in the elite series. Falk was a young career lyricist then. He stayed at Skellefteå for two years and of course the highlight was the highlight.

– I remember I hurt myself half of the first season. The second season was more fun. We had a very good team and Tommy (Samuelsson) was a coach. He hit quite well during the season, but was special in the qualifying series. The club had stumbled across the finish line many times, but we were focused on the group and eventually managed to take the step forward. It was wonderful, says Andreas Falk to HockeyNews.se.

After two years at Norrbotten, his career continued at HV71, Kölner Haie, Luleå.

Falk managed to win two SM golds with HV71 (2008, 2010) before his playing career ended at HV71 in the fall of 2018. A few months later he became an assistant coach on the club’s J20 team. Last season Andreas Falk was a player developer on the Jönköping Club junior team.

So now he’s looking forward to a return to Skellefteå and a much heavier role for 37-year-old Huddingekill.

– There may not be that many left at the club from the moment I played here, but I know the city and I recognize many faces, says Andreas Falk to HockeyNews.se.

Skellefteå’s first contact with Andreas Falk was made a couple of weeks ago.

Were you surprised when you offered to become a senior coach at an SHL club?

– Surprised, I wouldn’t say. I think it is a wonderful challenge and something that will go a long way for me. It feels exciting with the leadership constellation we have and we were also drawn to being able to participate in and influence an SHL team, ”says Falk.

He is passionate about player development and has always had a keen interest in statistics.

– As a player I was very interested in statistics and game ideas. Not only have I immersed myself in training and driving, but have also been interested in tactics, etc. Yes, I have spent a lot of time on statistics and I think it is a good thing, but you shouldn’t take too long.

Falk doesn’t think his coaching routine misleads him at the highest level in Sweden.

– However, I have been at the highest level as a player and I have been in five finals in Sweden and Germany. It’s like when you were a player, you always want to win. I know what it takes to succeed as a junior and senior. It’s about being able to push the things you believe in and work hard on the details and the last small percentage needed to get to the top. Get the best of each individual and at the same time make the team work.

Andreas Falk has signed a three-year contract with Skellefteå and the work begins immediately.
