Dejan Kulusevski scored a goal last weekend in his Juventus debut against Sampdoria in Serie A and also had the opportunity on Sunday night early on in the big game with Roma in the Italian capital. Then, however, Roma started better and came close to taking the lead early.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan dribbled towards goal and went free, but still couldn’t get the ball into the net. After that, Roma kept pushing too, and finally got a dividend, when Adrien Rabiot in the middle of the first half stopped a one-armed shot in his own penalty area. Roma were awarded a penalty, which Jordan Veretout used to make it 1-0.
Then Juventus caught up with him. Cristiano Ronaldo shot in the arm of an opponent, prompting a new penalty, which he used to make it 1-1. However, Roma were no worse then and just minutes later they countered at 2-1 through Jordan Veretout to lead at halftime.
Roma were also better at the beginning of the second half. Edin Dzeko first threatened with a shot on the post and then the team had a golden opportunity to play the game, when Rabiot was sent off in the 62nd minute after a second yellow card. But Ronaldo wanted something different and he nodded instead, seven minutes later, at 2-2.
Kulusevski, for his part, didn’t create much in the second half and had to leave the field in the 85th minute when the match finally ended 2-2. Juventus thus have four points after two games played this year in Serie A, while Roma now have one point.
– I think we deserved a point. It was a difficult situation at the beginning, but then we came back and also after the red card, so this can be an important point at the end of the season, says Ronaldo to Italian Sky and continues:
– We are just at the beginning of the season, at the same time that we have a new coach with new ideas. I think the team is doing well and we are excited about the future.
