Backklippan Magdalena Eriksson has been named Sweden’s best player on the women’s side in 2020. Eriksson received the Diamond Ball from the Sydsvenskan and the Swedish Football Association on Tuesday, for the first time in her career.
– I am incredibly honored, proud and happy, says Eriksson himself after the appointment.
Magdalena Eriksson has been chosen for the Swedish national team, which during the autumn secured a ticket to the upcoming European Championship final and impressed under the leadership of Peter Gerhardsson.
In addition to the success of the national team, Eriksson has become a leading figure in the great English club Chelsea. During the year, Eriksson has been captain of the team that won the Women’s Super League.
– I may not have been the greatest talent, but I have worked incredibly hard to get where I am today. I love soccer and I love coaching, says Eriksson.
When interviewed, she thanked those closest to her: the family and, of course, her girlfriend, Danish star Pernille Harder.
– Without them, this would not have been possible.
The 27-year-old Eriksson’s track record includes gold at the Swedish Championship, Olympic silver and bronze at the World Cup.
