Trump’s statement comes after the US Presidential Debate Committee announced that the next debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden will take place digitally. The idea is that the two presidential candidates, due to the risk of contagion, will be in different places in Miami, Florida.
“I will not participate in a digital debate,” Trump told Fox News.
The debate was scheduled for October 15, which is about two weeks after the US president is believed to have been infected with the coronavirus.

The president’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, says in a statement that it is possible to ensure the safety of everyone involved and still have a debate and that the decision on a digital debate was made solely to benefit Joe Biden.

Biden Campaign: “Done”
Biden’s campaign claims they are “ready,” but has yet to give a clear answer as to whether they are willing to engage in a digital debate.

Biden’s campaign also states that it will provide the opportunity for voters to ask questions directly of Joe Biden if the president sticks to his decision.
However, the Biden campaign rejects Trump’s proposal to move on to the third debate.
