According to the White House, outgoing US President Donald Trump will lift the travel ban on non-Americans who have been to Brazil or parts of Europe, among other places.
The new admission rules will take effect on January 26, that is, after Trump hands over the presidency to Joe Biden. However, according to Biden’s spokesman, the new government has no plans to ease entry restrictions.
“In fact, we plan to strengthen international travel measures to further reduce the spread of covid-19,” Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki wrote on Twitter.
According to Reuters, the United States has been considering lifting the entry bans, which were introduced in the initial stages of the pandemic, since November.
