Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden received significantly more votes than Trump and Hillary Clinton received in 2016. One reason may also be that third-party candidates attracted significantly fewer interest this time.

There was talk of a blue wave (the color of the Democrats) that would pass through not only the White House but also both houses of Congress. It appears that voters preferred instead to divide power. And it appears that the Senate will remain under the control of Donald Trump’s party.

But the margin of victory appears to be only 2.5. Biden also predicted a big lead for Michigan and Wisconsin, but the margin of victory was slim. Trafalgar Group finished quite well in 2016 and did it again this year, even though TG thought Trump would win the White House. In its latest survey, for example, Trafalgar Group made a profit for Biden in Wisconsin of one percentage point. The New York Times / Siena thought Biden would win by eleven percentage points.

But Michael Bloomberg spent nearly a billion dollars to help Biden in Florida, a state that Biden ultimately lost by a fairly wide margin. Democrats also spent record sums on congressional elections without appearing to have yielded notable results.
United States of America:
The country does not feel so united. The polarization that we have long witnessed and that has worsened under President Donald Trump is also reflected in the election results. It could have been countered if Joe Biden won the landslide victory some predicted. That did not happen. And the election figures suggest that Democrats have now further expanded their electoral advantage in American metropolises, while rural areas and smaller cities are voting even more for Republicans. Trump’s reaction so far to the election results doesn’t bode well either.
