Trump shouldn’t stand a chance, but vaccines can save him

A dark world awaits without Donald Trump.

Only Joe Biden can save the world from disaster.

Two completely contradictory images of reality that show how extremely divided American society is.

Now it is normal for political parties to give different images of reality. But rarely have two truths been presented so diametrically opposed as during the conventions of the Democratic and Republican parties.

When President Trump delivered his closing address, he painted an optimistic picture of what he himself had managed to accomplish during his nearly four years in power.

Never before has the United States felt so good and rich, according to the president.

Now this future of peace and prosperity is threatened by rival candidate Joe Biden if one wants to believe in Trump.

– No one will be safe in the United States from Biden, declared the president. He will crush the American dream.

In reality, Donald Trump shouldn’t have a chance to win. But one thing can save you.

You might think that the total demonization of the opponent is so parodic that it is impossible to go home to the voters. The exaggerations are just too gross.

This is what it looks like from a Swedish horizon, but it is not what it looks like if you are an American voter.

There are no more indisputable facts in American politics. There is no truth.

Trump can easily continue to present himself as an underdog and the foremost defender of the working class, even though he is not only the most powerful in the world, but also a billionaire. These objective facts are irrelevant.

Obvious lies

Either you agree with the image that four more years with Donald Trump in the White House would be a national disaster or you buy the reality of Trump. There is hardly a midfield anymore.

Take for example the position of minorities in American society after a summer of protests against police violence against blacks.

In his speech, Donald Trump claimed that in just over three years as president, he has done more for the black population than any president since Abraham Lincoln and more than Joe Biden has accomplished during his 47 years as a politician.

An obvious false statement. Trump didn’t even try to substantiate it with facts. But rhetorically, it still works against the voters who are part of the Trump bubble. And they still make up about 40 percent of the population.

While Biden is trying to turn the presidential election into a referendum on Trump, the president is trying to flag Biden as dangerous and incompetent. Even those who really don’t like Trump should think that he is better than the alternative.

Donald Trump is fighting for his political life. If you only look at opinion polls, it is already available to him. No other president has been left behind with such a large number this close to election day and then won. Not in more than 50 years.

But Trump has not given up. Instead, it raises the tone even more.

He hopes that the same troubles that led him to victory in battle four years ago will make him victorious this time as well.

I shouldn’t be able to win

Law and order are now his main option after the crown pandemic tore apart the booming economy that was once his best weapon.

While Democrats see protests against police violence as a warning sign for society to do something about racism, Trump sees it primarily as a point of order.

When American cities burn with vandalism and violence, it is not entirely impossible for many ordinary Americans to sympathize more with Trump’s approach than with Bidens. Much depends on whether the violence and destruction continue.

In reality, Donald Trump shouldn’t have a chance to win.

When the United States is hit by a disaster like the crown pandemic, it really doesn’t matter who is in power. Only a president who handles such a crisis with great skill and success can count on reelection. Nor has Donald Trump.

The Trump bailout?

It almost looks like he’s trying to pretend the pandemic is over. The president delivered his speech on the White House lawn in front of 2,000 guests who didn’t seem to keep their distance and where only a few wore mouth guards.

But there is one thing that can save you.

It was no coincidence that Trump in his speech promised that there would be a corona vaccine approved by the end of the year. Maybe even before that.

Trump won’t avoid pressuring those responsible to do so and then taking the credit. He knows that a vaccine can make many Americans forget about his clumsy and clumsy handling of the covid crisis.
