The president of the United States, Donald Trump, by a direct issue, does not want to guarantee a peaceful change of power after the November elections. – We’ll see what happens, he says.

It is an obvious element of a constitutional democracy: that a sitting leader resigns from power in the event of an electoral defeat.
However, Donald Trump doesn’t want to make that promise in advance. Instead, the president of the United States predicts that the White House dispute will be decided in the Supreme Court and reiterates his controversial claim that voting by mail leads to voter fraud.
– You know I have complained a lot about the ballots (postcards), the ballots are a disaster, he says.
– Out of the ballots, it will be a very quiet one … Or rather, there will be no turn. It will be a sequel.
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden rejects Trump’s statement.
– What country are we in? he asks rhetorically, according to the AFP news agency.
– Says the most irrational things. I do not know what to say.
Dissatisfied voices are also heard from within their own ranks. Republican Senator Mitt Romney, who is often critical of the president, draws similarities to Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
“The peaceful change of power is a central element of democracy. Without it, it will be like in Belarus,” he writes on Twitter.
Trump’s move comes in light of the battle over the appointment of a new HD judge that erupted after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg last weekend.
The president plans to nominate a new candidate on Saturday and let the Senate vote before the election, which would likely guarantee a conservative dominance in the powerful court for years, possibly decades, to come.
Democrats are demanding that the Senate wait to vote on Bader Ginsburg’s successor until after the Nov. 3 election. So far, two Republican members have joined the opposition camp line, but since Republicans have a majority of 53 to 47 seats, Democrats would need the support of two more Republicans to stop the vote.
In the 2016 election year, members of the Republican Senate refused to vote on then-President Barack Obama’s proposal for a new HD judge after the death of Antonin Scalia.
Scalia was replaced after the change of power in the White House in 2017 by Neil Gorsuch, who was nominated by Donald Trump.
Opinion position before the US elections
If there were elections today, Republican Donald Trump would get 43 percent of the vote and Democrat Joe Biden 50 percent, according to a compilation of current polls from the Real Clear Politics political site.
However, the complicated electoral system of the United States, in which the voters of each state vote for electors who, in turn, appoint the president, means that the election is in fact decided in some of the so-called master states of the wave.
The election will be held on November 3.
