The two men, aged 18 and 21, have been charged with kidnapping, in particular aggravated battery, aggravated rape, aggravated robbery and assault in court.
The lengthy process began when the two children collided with the defendants on a Solna street late on the night of August 23 last year, according to prosecutor Anders Tordai. They were then said to have been subjected to violence and threats and forced objects, and were then taken from the street to the nearby cemetery.
“There they will continue to be exposed to threats and extensive and prolonged violence,” Anders Tordai told TT in relation to the prosecution.
Burned and naked
The victims are said to have been beaten with blows, kicks and knives and burned with fire or embers, according to the indictment. They must also have been naked, tied up, and forced into wells.
“They have had great anxiety about death,” Tordai said.
During a police questioning, one of the children told of death anxiety.
– Mostly it’s fair: do what they say so they don’t kill you. Just stay alive and do what they want, the boy said.
At around eight in the morning, about eight hours after they first met the defendants, the children managed to escape and met a person who helped them call the police.
The main motive is believed to have been money, but the aggravated assault is unexplained.
Recognized parties
According to Dagens Nyheter, the 18-year-old admitted parts of what he is accused of during the main hearing in the Solna District Court. However, he denied the kidnapping and the aggravated rape.
The 21-year-old completely denied the crime during the main trial.
– My client denies that he was there and denies the act in its entirety, said his lawyer Ersin Aziman according to DN.
The judgment of the district court will be announced at 11 a.m.
