Travelers to the Swedish border are intimidated when in Norway

The relationship between Norwegians and Swedes has been put to the test during the crown pandemic, according to a compilation by the Värmland County Board of Directors, which NWT has read.

Swedes crossing the border are intimidated by Norwegians. The reason is “the prejudice that Swedes bring COVID-19 across the border,” the report states.

“Norwegians believe that we bring the infection”

Tanja Ekegren, chief of staff for the crisis organization at the county administrative board, tells NWT that Norway’s “back and forth action” has a negative impact.

– On each occasion we receive reports that the climate between countries, social relations, is deteriorating. Precisely that the Norwegians believe that we bring the infection.

The County Administrative Board says that not all border travelers are exposed, but that the trend is becoming clearer. One worries about the consequences of the hairy tone.

– We are very concerned about the relationship between Sweden and Norway. It is a border that has been open since World War II. We have had a very close collaboration and we have families living on both sides of the border.

The border is closed again

On the second weekend of October, Norway closed the border with Värmland again in reference to the infection situation, after having previously been open for five weeks.

The Norwegian government advises its citizens not to travel to Värmland, unless absolutely necessary.

– Now we follow the rules that Norway has established and then it is a general assessment of the infection situation and the criteria of 20 per 100,000 for 14 days that are applied together with the proportion of positives that must be analyzed must be less than five percent Line Vold, department director at the Norwegian National Institute of Public Health told NWT at the time.
