Coronavågen is putting pressure on healthcare in Skåne, and we probably haven’t seen the worst yet.
To plan medical care and develop strategies, Region Skåne works according to different scenarios. According to the worst case scenario, which is based on the Stockholm course this spring, for example, the corona wave reaches its peak sometime between Lucia and the thirteenth weekend with 250 patients admitted to medical centers and 30 people in IVA , according to Sydsvenskan.
These figures can be compared to the burden in the spring when at most 91 corona-infected patients were seen at Scanian hospitals.
The region is now working to redistribute resources to increase the number of places of care for corona-infected patients. According to Sydsvenskan, Sus plans to gradually open more than 200 care centers in Lund and Malmö. The existing IVA sites in Skåne, 65, are estimated to be sufficient.
Follow the restrictions
But the situation is dark: Right now, the curve that points up to patients with established infection is the worst case.
The hope now is that the people of Skåne will take the stricter restrictions seriously.
– Unfortunately we cannot say with certainty that we have broken the curve. Our hope is that the stricter general guidelines for Skåne will lead to that, but we don’t know.
– But if everyone follows the advice, the curve can be leveled out sooner, says Mats E Persson to Sydsvenskan.
“The vaccine should not be more dangerous than the disease.”
