Corona has once again tied control over Denmark, says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) at a press conference when she introduced new restrictions for the country on Friday.

Starting Saturday at 12 noon, the ban on public gatherings of more than 50 people will be introduced. In some parts of the country, the limit has already been lowered from 100 to 50, but now the figure applies to all of Denmark. Exceptions apply to certain events in areas such as culture and sports where you have seating. There, the limit is still 500.

There will also be stricter restrictions for bars and restaurants in the country. Tighter restrictions came into effect yesterday in the Danish capital area, where restaurants, bars and cafes will close no later than 10 p.m. This will now apply to the rest of the country as well, starting tomorrow.

– Until we have a very, very effective vaccine or treatment, our best weapon against the crown is to be united, to keep our distance and to demonstrate civic spirit. It is up to all of us to do that, says Mette Frederiksen.

The new restrictions apply until October 4.
