A pink dildo should penetrate the media noise and remind residents to keep their distance.

The municipality’s crown campaign has sparked resentment among upset parents, but the municipal director believes the initiative has been successful.

– Yes, we have received attention, says Randi Graungaard to SVT.

When yesterday the Tierp municipality released the image of a pink dildo with the text “Sällskapssjuk? Keep your distance!” there were several who put the coffee in the esophagus.

At least in terms of some reactions that the campaign provoked on social networks.

Some believe that the invention of the municipality is irresponsible, since the image can be seen by children. Someone even claims that the municipality normalizes pornography among young people.

Others pay tribute to the township with cheers like “Klockrent!” and “This is what makes me move towards you.”

City manager Randi Graungaard is opposed to the campaign having any detrimental effect.

“Parents must take responsibility”

Previously, the municipality released images in a ruler to remember the recommendations on physical distancing, but since the spread of the infection is increasing mainly among young people, they chose a new strategy to capture the target group, Graungaard tells SVT Uppsala.

– We have made a conscious channel decision not to publish this particular part of the campaign in places other than social media. Children are on social media, but parents must also take responsibility for what they do there. And Facebook has an age limit.

When asked if he thinks the unexpected strategy to remind crown-weary citizens that the pandemic is not over has been successful, the answer is yes.

– Yes, so far we have received attention on the issue of keeping our distance, he tells SVT.
