During the night, the rescue service received an alarm that a bus was burning in a parking lot at Garnisonsvägen in Linköping. When you arrived at the scene at 04:00, the bus was completely on fire. It was also burned on two other nearby buses.
– It is a bus company that has its vehicles parked there. It has started to burn in one of the buses, and since they are quite close to each other, it has spread to two others, says Christian Lind, internal commander of the rescue service.
The rescue service has moved other buses and assesses that there is no additional risk of spread.
At 08:00 the fire had been extinguished and the rescue service put an end to the operation. All three buses are destroyed. It is not clear what caused the fire.
A VMA (Important Notice to the Public) came out early in the morning, urging the public to stay indoors and close doors, windows, and ventilation. At 08:00, the rescue service assesses that there is no longer any risk to the residents of the area.
