WASHINGTON. Thousands of Trump supporters are marching through the streets of Washington DC to continue protesting the outcome of the US presidential election.
Although time is running out, most supporters are convinced that Trump will take office again in January.
“The battle is not lost,” said 55-year-old Trump supporter Mark Izsa.
Greg Stewart, 55, watches the crowd at Freedom Plaza in downtown Washington.
– Do you see how many there are here? Biden had never been successful at something like this, he says.
Together with her friend Michelle Baumbach, 53, she has traveled for several hours to participate in today’s Trump march. They, like thousands of others, rallied in support of Trump and his claims of widespread voter fraud in the presidential elections.
– We feel that our election has been stolen, or that they are at least trying, says Michelle, who mistrusts the experts and the media when they say that Biden has won.

Anna Jedrysko, 72, cries during a speech about the theft of the elections.
The crowd in the plaza in front of them waves Trump flags in red, white and blue, then bursts into the American national anthem. At that moment, Donald Trump flies over them in a helicopter, causing cheers to erupt.
Micheller Baumbach is convinced that it is Donald Trump who raises his hand and will be sworn in for another term on January 20. His friend Greg Stewart says that he has even booked a hotel room in DC for that date, because he doesn’t want to miss the ceremony. But he points out that, after all, there are few opportunities left for Trump to reverse the electoral defeat in court.
– It feels like some kind of end is coming. But I still have hope, he says.

“The big one” slogs ner
The latest setback for Trump’s camp came Friday night. Then the Supreme Court decided not to take the case, which the president himself called “the big one,” a lawsuit by the Texas Attorney General that challenged the election results in four key states: Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Something that was seen by many Trump supporters as a last lifeline.
Mark Izsa, 55, from New Jersey, who is also participating in the rally, believes the battle is not lost, but is beginning to worry.
– We know that we are now under time pressure. Trump’s team is working as hard as it can, and some Republicans have certainly helped, but more must step up. Today there are thousands of us who support him, but yes, time is running out.

Voters will vote soon
In just two days, on Monday, December 14, the state electorate will formally cast their vote for Joe Biden. Donald Trump has previously announced that he will leave the White House if voters elect the Democrat as president.
Something Michelle Baumbach doesn’t think will happen.
– Absolutely not. Trump would not allow that to happen to us, he says.

In mid-November, a similar “March for Trump” rally was held in Washington. There were peaceful protests during the day, but during the afternoon and night there were several bloody clashes, with fights and at least 20 detainees. One person was seriously injured in a knife cut and chaos erupted a few blocks from the White House.
Right wing extremists instead
In addition to the thousands of peaceful protesters in the streets this weekend, far-right groups such as the Proud Boys also have a large presence during today’s protest. Many of them wear bulletproof vests and shields as they patrol in lines in Freedom Plaza. A couple of blocks away, the counter-protesters also gather, saying they want to protect democracy and protest against fascism.

Therefore, much of central Washington is closed to car traffic, and police are now preparing for riots between groups on the right and left this weekend. So far, five protesters have been arrested, Fox DC reports.
– Tonight there will be a fight, says one of the members of the Proud Boys to Aftonbladet, and hits the cap that he has reinforced with iron.
He and several others accuse left-wing groups like Antifa of creating chaos; then he and other members of the Proud Boys are ready to respond strongly.
Trump supporter Mark Izsa from New Jersey also says he’s ready to go out and fight overnight in Washington DC.
– I’m going to go out and “stir a bit”. Many of us are angry for cheating, he says.
