National Police Chief Anders Thornberg tells Dagens Nyheter that he wants to see an investigation into information that senior police chiefs and their relatives have received apartments on property owned by the authority’s foundation.

On Wednesday, the newspaper published an article in which it affirmed that the foundation had awarded a lease contract to the administrators and their families, so that they themselves are part of the board of directors. It is not certain that the procedure was criminal, but Olle Lundin, professor of administrative law at Uppsala University, calls it “corruption.”

The head of the National Police now says that the case was reported to the special investigations of the authority, and that the internal audit was commissioned to investigate if there are similar foundations linked to the police.

“It is important that police employees in all contexts behave in a way that inspires confidence,” Anders Thornberg writes to DN.
