Gert Wingårdh’s proposal has been made on behalf of the Port of Gothenburg.
According to the proposal, the fishmongers will be neighbors with new restaurants, offices and a thousand homes. The operations will be 11,000 square meters. There will also be space for a 21,000 square meter logistics center.
The website of the fishing port says, among other things, the following about the vision: “Here, the Swedish fishing industry grows next to restaurants, cafes and shops, a stone’s throw from the center of Gothenburg, overlooking the river and Sea”.
The cost: SEK 8 billion
Gert Wingårdh tells GP that he can count on a cost of SEK 40,000 per square meter. That would mean a total cost of around SEK 8 billion.
– We have calculated income and expenses and the idea is that this will be a zero sum game for Gothenburgers. It’s based on the real estate business being so strong that it can withstand this refinement of the plots, Wingårdh tells GP.
Now city politicians will examine the proposal.
– This is a contribution from the actors of the fishing port on how they see their vision and how they see in front of them that houses can be built and thus finance an expansion. We think this is a very exciting proposition, and this is something that the city planning office, the traffic office and the real estate office can now look at further, City Councilman Hampus Magnusson, M, tells GP.
