Christmas is fast approaching and it is not much as usual this year. But what is similar is that Christmas does not turn white in Gothenburg. The last time Gothenburg had snow, albeit a little, was in 2012.
This year it will not snow, however the sun will shine over Gothenburg and all of western Sweden. Therefore, the city will have a great impact on solar statistics.
– Tomorrow Wednesday, the sunny one will be clear. It will be mild with a temperature between 4 and 6 degrees, says Moa Hallberg, a meteorologist at SMHI.

Sunglasses on the frame
So what should Santa wear this year? Warm clothes, raincoat or with nails? Maybe blunt, but Santa has to search the summer wardrobe for his sunglasses. Because there will be glorious sunshine even on Christmas Eve.
– The morning of Christmas Eve begins cloudy but then the sun arrives. It will be around zero to some extent.
For those of you driving out on Christmas Eve morning, it is good to take it easy. Because according to Moa Hallberg, it can be a bit slippery on the roads.
Christmas Day also offers glorious sunshine and is a bit colder. The temperature can drop to one degree lower.
But it’s important to hurry up to refuel the sun before it goes back into the clouds. On the second day, a low pressure re-enters which can produce wet snow first, but then turns into rain. And it looks like the rain will continue on Sunday. The temperature then rises again and will be between 2 and 3 degrees more.

Unusually hot
It’s known to have been unusually mild for the season lately, but the truth is that week 51 hasn’t been this hot in 148 years at the Vinga gauging station. It’s the warmest average temperature recorded for the 51st week since 1872, something the Newsworthy news site writes in a press release.
During week 51, an average temperature of 6.8 degrees was measured. Which is significantly warmer than normal. The historical average is 1.4 degrees.
