It is not easy to know what is correct in each individual situation in terms of risk of exposure to corona infection.
The government tightened the restrictions on Friday, among other things, only four can be in company in a restaurant and before serving alcohol after 8:00 p.m., but there are still several possible issues that are not regulated in national councils.
Kvällposten has asked ten common questions that Skåne Region infection control doctor Eva Melander answers here.
1. Can my children play with friends indoors? Is there a difference if it’s classmates / friends from preschool?
– I understand that you ask the question, but it is difficult to give an exact answer. It depends on the family picture, is there an underlying disease in the family or the elderly in the environment? But a friend the boy meets every day could definitely be fine. You should try to use your common sense and take the support of the general advice and, if you have the slightest doubt, do not do it.
Can I meet my neighbors?
– We are talking mainly about limiting contact indoors. Dealing with neighbors is usually not okay, but it can also be the case that you are single and the neighbor is part of your little bubble. But if you have a family of four or five, spending time with neighbors is probably less appropriate.
“It is better to arrange help”
3. Our large family isolates us in our different places a week before Christmas. Can we meet and celebrate as usual?
– It is not appropriate to gather many. Think of a maximum of eight as the norm. Isolating yourself might be one way to reduce your risk of infection, but there’s nothing to guarantee that it’s enough because it’s hard not to be exposed to any risk for two weeks, which is required to be really safe.
4. Can children continue their activities (soccer, rock climbing, parkour, dance)?
– In general, those under 15 years of age also practice group sports. It is important to move on, but preferably it should be done in small groups and at a distance and preferably outdoors.
5. Can I, like over 70 years old, go shopping for food as usual?
– Everyone can go buy the food they need if there is no one else who can help. It is better to ask for help if possible, but there is no prohibition.
Can I go on a Tinder date?
– Any new physical contact carries a risk. You have to use your common sense.
“Probably protected for at least six months”
7. If I have antibodies, can I meet older relatives and have fun shopping at the mall?
– You must continue to follow the advice whatever happens and be careful. There is a risk that you will contract the disease again and we know very little about how long you are immune.
8. Can I assume I have antibodies if I have been confirmed for the coronavirus? How long?
– Not everyone develops antibodies, but you can see it as if you have covid, most likely you are protected for at least six months.
9. Is it okay to travel during the Christmas holidays?
– It is okay to travel if you need to, but it should be done in an infection-proof manner so that you expose as few infections as possible during the trip.
– It is not forbidden to travel to different parts of the country, but if it means making completely new contacts, it is not appropriate.
10. What’s the best way to arrange Christmas shopping?
– Forget Christmas shopping if you can or shop online. If you need to go to a store, you need to keep your distance and not enter a crowded store.
