The 2020 pandemic year is over (soon). But anyone hoping for a star-studded New Year’s Eve and optimal conditions for viewing the fireworks will be disappointed.
According to Therese Fougman, a meteorologist at SMHI, Thursday will be gray, wet and cold.
– There will be some rain in the Gothenburg area and there will be a lot of clouds during the day, he says.
It is not clear exactly where it will rain, as these are towns that move. There may also be some snow, but not much to talk about.
– It may attract more snow than rain, but that white snow landscape will have to wait a little longer, says Therese Fougman.

A few more degrees
No major changes are made overnight. It doesn’t appear to be opening, but the cloud cover will remain over Gothenburg until midnight, something that can make it difficult to see fireworks.
– No, it can be a bit like that. If you shoot too high, you’ll only see the flash of light, says Therese Fougman.
During the day, the temperature will be a few degrees higher to drop to zero degrees at twelve o’clock. Slightly cooler weather can mean slightly snowier elements later in the evening.
