The last time the family had contact with Carola, 53, was Friday night. Since last Saturday, he has disappeared and his empty car was found at a location in Boviken. That’s where the clues end.
– It’s incredibly strange. We do not know if there is a crime or if he has chosen to disappear. The mobile phone is off and since they haven’t found it, it looks like it could be anywhere, says Malin Hällberg.
On Sunday, the police launched a search operation, which lasted until Wednesday night. Several policemen, dog patrols and police helicopters have searched the area in a radius around the place where the car was found, on both sides E 4. The National Guard has also assisted as well as hundreds of volunteers who participated in the search of Missing Persons.
But despite all efforts, the woman has not been found and on Wednesday night, the police judged that continuing with the search is no longer justified. Missing People has also halted its search effort.
– We understand that they have many other important tasks and we must respect that they cannot put more resources into the application. But the relatives continue. We try to coordinate the search effort and review what areas may be worth searching, says Malin.
– The area around the car is well recorded, so it does not seem likely that it is there. We have people on the ground and we have also printed brochures that we sit down and try to spread out. We feel confused and desperate and we just want the information that she has left to spread throughout Sweden.
Five days have passed since you disappeared, how has this time been for your relatives?
– We are in the worst roller coaster of emotions. You move between hope and despair and yesterday many of us were probably frustrated. The uncertainty is terrible and there are a million different theories. You can’t sleep, you just want her to finish, to be found, says Malin.
Missing People has stopped their efforts, but they are ready to resume searching again if new areas that feel interesting appear.
– It is important that we have something to continue on before going out onto the field and looking. We stay in touch with the police and will also contact the family again and if it becomes relevant we can quickly put together a new search effort, says Tomas Nilsson.
