Late last year, news emerged of a new recommendation on oral protection in public transport.
The recommendation applies to peak hours from Monday to Friday (07-09 in the morning and 16-18 in the afternoon) and took effect on Thursday.
According to Kristian Lans, press communicator for Västtrafik, there were few trips on Thursday, as many are free.
They expect the same pattern on Friday as well.
“Of course it varies”
Regarding how those who still traveled by public transport followed the recommendations, he says:
– We have received mixed reports. Some claim that they have used mouth guards to a great extent, and in other places a little less. In general, it can be said that today we see a greater use among travelers, but I cannot give a detailed account since it is not something that we measure or follow.
He believes that the use of mouth guards depends, among other things, on time and place.
– Colleagues who traveled to Gothenburg this morning felt it looked good with use. We have received a report from Borås where they say it was a bit like that and like that with the mouth guards. Clearly it varies, says Kristian Lans.
What reactions have you received from your travelers?
– It’s also a bit mixed. There is no uniform position. There have been some questions in our customer service about whether we should distribute mouth guards etc., he says, adding that Västtrafik expects and believes that passengers should follow the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency.
In terms of oral protection, Västtrafik will provide it in the future through its stores in the region. This starts next week.
– There are eleven Västtrafik stores in the region, some of which are located in the Gothenburg area. There, upon presentation of a valid ticket, you will be able to pick up a mouth guard, says Kristian Lans.
In the early days with the new recommendation, there is no such service.
