After an hour-long car chase, a wanted man was arrested on the outskirts of Kungsbacka.
Despite several nails, the police failed to arrest the man. Instead, the chase ended only when the man voluntarily drove into the sea.
It was Saturday night that the police received information about a wanted man in Kungsbacka. At 9:30 p.m., several patrols began to follow the man’s car. The decision was quickly made to lay spike mats along the road.
– He passed over them and continued with a flat tire, says Fredrik Svedemyr, press spokesman for the police in the West region.
Later, the police tried to stop the man at a roundabout, but failed.
After just over an hour, the car chase took an unexpected turn. The man drove to the port near Hanhals on the outskirts of Kungsbacka and drove the car along the edge of the pier. He got out and first tried to swim away from the police.
– But after a short bath, he came back. It was probably a cold dip there, but I could swim back voluntarily, says Fredrik Svedemy.
The man, who is 40 years old, was arrested unharmed at 10:46 p.m., among other things suspected of arbitrary procedures. In the sunken car, the police found several stolen license plates.
