A 35-year-old man is sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for two attempted murder cases in Vaxholm this summer, police write in a press release.

The man first attacked a man who was resting his dog and stabbed him in the shoulder and back. The wounded man managed to get home to the door of his apartment where he was able to call 112. His neighbors helped him stop the bleeding while he waited for an ambulance by helicopter.

When one of the neighbors was asked to go out in the dark and turn on a flashlight for the ambulance helicopter to find them, the attacker attacked again. He also stabbed the neighbor in the back and chest.

The Attunda District Court sentenced the man to forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge examination.

According to the verdict, the author has suffered from mental illness and difficulty sleeping for several years. That night he had taken sleeping pills and drunk alcohol on his hands.
