On November 13 this year, rapper Yasin, 22, and pop artist Miriam Bryant, 29, released the long-awaited single “Give Up Again.” The song made it straight to the singles chart and only after release was the number one song on Spotify’s Top 50 chart in Sweden, with nearly 500,000 concerts over 24 hours.
The mastermind behind the collaboration is Miriam Bryant herself.
– Miriam and Yasin knew each other before and said ‘damn it, we should do something together’. So Miriam called me and asked if I wanted to join, we’ve done almost all of her next album together, and I said yes, it felt fun and challenging, says producer Elias Kapari.
“I wanted to mix Miriam and Yasin”
The song “Give up again” was written by Miriam Bryant and Yasin along with Elias Kapari, who is also the producer of the song and much of Miriam Bryant’s latest EP “My Love”.
– I understood that the song was special, but maybe I was a bit surprised by how well it turned out, it’s really fun! Miriam and Yasin are a good match, he says.
On the single, which echoes retro vibes with a crunchy gramophone sound, Yasin, best known for his rap, also shows proof of his singing talent.
The idea with the song was to give the feel of an old record and create an exciting mix of the two artists, explains Elias Kapari.
– We wanted to mix Miriam and Yasin, their musical styles are different and make a different song.
– Where Miriam sings, the inspiration is an old song from the 50s, 60s and we have merged it with the part of Yasin that wanted it to sound like an old hip hop song from the 90s, which worked very well together.
Yasin is nominated for this year’s P3 Gold in the Hip Hop of the Year and Artist of the Year categories.

“Great game”
At the time of writing, “Give Up Again” has over 8.8 million streams on Spotify and is played hundreds of thousands of times a day.
Miriam Bryant has previously collaborated with great Swedish hip hop artists such as Stor and Jireel. For Yasin, it was the first collaboration with a well-known pop artist.
– Miriam dares to do some unexpected collaborations and Yasin and Miriam were quite unexpected, I would say. They obviously work very well together, people listen and I think it was a great match, says Kapari.
I wrote the song in one day
Writing the song was fast.
– We wrote it in one day in the studio. The chorus first and then Yasin wrote her verse quite quickly. Yasin is unbelievably fast and shit, so it was awesome to watch. I haven’t met him before, but I’m an incredibly nice person, says Elias Kapari.

The answer to rumors of romance
The single debuted on YouTube, where the artist duo performed the song on a live stream direct from London. In the broadcast, the artists themselves speak that both have been asked if they are together.
– We deny it, says Miriam Bryant and laughs and Yasin says that many people think that it is Miriam Bryant who is what Yasin calls “R’nB” in her song “Hiphop n RnB”.
