The virus center away from the nursing home in Gnosjö | TTELA

Residents across the country have been severely affected by the virus outbreak. One of the accommodations that has attracted attention is in Gnosjö. In a short time, eight people died on the property.

– We have a maximum of 18 of our 26 residents who have been ill. And also twelve on staff. But ten of the residents have recovered and the entire staff is back at work, says Boel Simonsson.

Climbing stairs

Already when the first patients became ill, the measures intensified.

– We are prohibited from visits and we have always had protective equipment. We try in every way to keep him away from us.

It is unclear how the infection entered the accommodation, but once it happened, things went quickly, in one day. This suggests that the residents were infected at the same time. One particular problem is that it is pure dementia accommodation.

– Makes it difficult to isolate those who live here. There are many who wander. But we’ve outlined it so you can’t walk between departments, says Simonsson.

Still intact

The rooms of those who have died are still intact. Staff have sprayed all surfaces, but family members have not yet been able to retrieve family members’ belongings.

– I said that when it is free and another fourteen days have passed, that we are next weekend, they can come and collect. But they are not allowed to meet the staff or any of the residents.

And some new occupants in the rooms are currently not relevant.
