The Uppsala region can be advised not to take “unnecessary trips”

– It is the rate of increase that we have that is so worrying. It’s clear we’re looking for a mandate to slow down, says Mikael Köhler, director of health and medical care.

In the Uppsala region, so far, two measures in particular have been on the agenda:

– Closing restaurants at night and avoiding unnecessary trips could be relevant, says Mikael Köhler.

Therefore, the Uppsala region has recently been in the hands of the Swedish Public Health Agency, because according to current regulations, it is not possible to implement local restrictions. The Swedish Public Health Agency has now heeded the call for help and a new proposal has been drawn up that would give the regions the opportunity to decide on a number of restrictions.

Consultation proposal

A decision on local restrictions may be made as of October 19; the proposal is now being launched for consultation with the regions.

If the situation is so difficult at the moment, can you wait until then with local restrictions?

– I can buy it because they kept the roof for meetings of 50 people. Otherwise, we would have definitely needed local restrictions now, says Mikael Köhler.
