It has already been postponed.
Now comes information that Japan wants to cancel the Tokyo Olympics entirely.
“It’s too difficult,” a government source told The Times.
Covid-19 paralyzed the entire world when the virus broke out last year. So does the world of sports. Leagues were halted and championships postponed, including the Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed from summer 2020 to summer 2021.
Now comes credible information that Japan wants to withdraw.
I should have decided
According to The Times, the Japanese government has decided that the games should be canceled due to the pandemic. According to a prominent person, the government agreed that the games are doomed, and the “goal” now is to find a “good” way to run the announcement, so that Tokyo can host the Olympics at a later time.
– Nobody wants to be the first to say that, but it is too difficult, says a source to The Times.
80 percent against
This week, a new opinion poll was conducted that showed that 80 percent of Japanese people did not want the Olympics to be held in their country this summer.
35.3 percent wanted to cancel the games entirely. 44.8 percent wanted to move forward again, the Reuters news agency said.
Tokyo Mayor Yuriko Koike has previously said that the Olympics will not be canceled “under any circumstances.”
The idea is that the Olympic Games are held between July 23 and August 8.
