Murders, kidnappings of famous rap artists and serious firearm crimes.
Several large investigations linked to criminal networks in Stockholm are nearing their legal trials.
It is the turn of the trial for a fatal shooting at a gas station in Stockholm.
The woman is about to get into the car that came to pick her up at the Kungens Kurva gas station in southern Stockholm when the first shot of many is fired. They hit her on the leg, back and head, but she survives. One of the two men who travels in the car does not: he dies after receiving nine shots, several of them in the head.
But whoever the police believe is the real target, the other man and also the woman’s husband, escapes unscathed. The 28-year-old quickly runs out of the car as the shooting begins and says that after wandering around the gas station for a while in a panic, he finds his injured wife on the ground.
“He took his hand away and black blood gushed out, he saw a hole and thought they had shot him in the head. He told him they were just glass shards so his pulse wouldn’t race,” he describes. in the preliminary investigation.
Lie about the theft
The trial of three men accused of being involved in the incident, which occurred on January 18 last year, will begin on Tuesday. A 24-year-old man is charged with the murder, as well as the attempted murder of the woman and the 28-year-old. According to the prosecutor, he must have driven the car from which most of the shots were fired. It has not been possible to determine who fired, but it is clear that two weapons were used. The 24-year-old must also have done a home survey with a connection to the 28-year-old the week before.
According to the preliminary investigation, the 28-year-old must have a threat against him. On what it would be based is not something that he himself can explain in the interrogations that have been carried out. However, the prosecutor has his theories:
“The shooting is probably part of an agreement between two criminal groups who have a conflict that has been going on for several years. One of the groups has its origin in the Stockholm suburb of the Vårby farm,” said Johanna Rejdemo Storbjörk when it started. the process. .
Two other men are charged with complicity and complicity in the attempted murder of the 28-year-old. One of them is also accused of protecting criminals and false alarms when he claims that his car, the one used in the shooting, was stolen and thus caused an unnecessary police call.
“Will shut up”
The main suspect, the 24-year-old, has initially sat in silence during all interrogations, or replied “without comment.” It was also something that his first lawyer, who would later drop the case, warned the interrogators before they started questioning his client:
“He denies the fact and in no way has he been involved in any crime and he will not answer any questions so he does not believe that he has hearing problems and so on but he will simply shut up thank you,” said the lawyer according to the preliminary investigation.
This investigation is related to two other cases that have just been tried or will be tried in the spring. In part a case involving, among other things, a felony firearms offense, and in part a highly publicized case in which, among others, one of Sweden’s most performed rap artists is suspected of committing a crime. crime. The man was arrested at a hotel in central Stockholm on New Year’s Eve, along with eleven other people suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of another Swedish rap artist this spring.
But the case also concerns other types of crimes, such as attempted murder, extremely serious firearm crimes, extremely serious drug crimes, widespread destruction and more. In total, almost 30 people are detained in the case.
The lawyers are being investigated
The fact that the investigations have gone so far is partly due to the decryption of the Encrochat chat tool, which has given police access to vast amounts of communication between suspects.
But it wasn’t just the conversations between them that sparked the interest of the police. Suspicions have been raised against two lawyers who have now been reported to the Bar Association by two prosecutors, accused of revealing secret information and helping criminals through encrypted chat.
One of them was the aforementioned attorney who initially represented the main suspect in the King’s Curve shooting. He resigned from his assignment after an investigation was launched against him for breach of confidentiality, when, despite being prohibited from opening, he is said to have disclosed information about the investigation to others, which DN reported.
The lawyers deny the accusations, one of them has previously written to TT that they are “drunk”.
