The Swedish model has crashed

A new deadline would solve many problems

The Swedish model in the labor market crashed last night.

The consequences are so extensive that it is difficult to see them in a hurry.

However, it is clear that Stefan Löfven has another unwanted question on his desk.

Last night the deadline for agreeing a new main deal in the Swedish labor market expired.

Negotiations between employers in the Confederation of Swedish Companies and the unions of LO and PTK, private employees went bankrupt without reaching an agreement.

The accident must be considered very surprising and a great failure. The parties have handled this issue without interference in politics for almost eighty years and it has benefited Sweden well during these decades. You could say very well.

The new main agreement would have contained many parts but the one that seems to have been the most difficult to agree on was the one dealing with the employment protection law, read, and there is a special topic.

It was about how employers should be able to get rid of employees. Today, the requirement of a factual basis for dismissal is very strong. But employers wanted it to be easier to fire someone for personal reasons.

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

But it certainly wasn’t The only tough question in this mined negotiation, but if you want to point out the one with the most symbols, that’s probably it.

Negotiations between the parties on a new major deal have been going on for a long time, but were given a deadline through a politically appointed investigation into, and by the January deal. The parties would have a new agreement ready for tonight, otherwise the politicians would take over.

The enthusiasm for it is, express yourself gently, severely limited. In the worst case, it could lead to a crisis of government, which probably only the Swedish Democrats and the Left Party want today. The other parties, so far, have not wanted it.

Jonas Sjöstedt and the Left Party want a vote of no confidence and a vote on the future of the government. SD always likes fights and government crises.

The bourgeois parties want to change the law did not implement any changes for eight years in government. C and L don’t want a government crisis now either.

The bottom line is that a government crisis does not threaten today or tomorrow or next week. Most parties will try to push it for as long as possible.

There is also an opportunity for parties. it may take a little longer. In any case, Finance Minister Per Bolund (MP) wants that and can probably quickly find more like-minded people.

The conditions are there. All parties are very sorry to disagree, they are disappointed with the failure and say that they were close to each other after all. But the time was too short.

In that case, it would be resolved with more hours. The parties avoid political interference. Politicians are avoiding the issue and a possible political crisis for now, the Swedish model in the labor market will survive for a while longer.

LO president Susanna Gideonsson blames C and L. It’s ridiculous. They don’t negotiate, but Gideonsson’s LO did.

The so-called Saltsjöbad agreement is a main agreement between the LO unions and the SAF employers that was concluded in 1938 in Saltsjöbaden, on the outskirts of Stockholm. It is considered to be the explanation for the spirit of consensus in the Swedish labor market and a crucial part of what is called “the Swedish model”.
