The Swedish Business Confederation holds the press conference together with PTK, the collaborative organization of trade unions organizing salaried employees from the private sector, which has participated in the negotiations together with LO. PTK announced that they were willing to accept the deal.
– A negotiation is a give and take, so it has not been an obvious and simple decision, Martin Wästfelt, chairman of the PTK negotiating team, said at the press conference and continued:
– But after weighing the pros and cons, the PTK union has come to the conclusion that the benefits of settling this in deals and taking responsibility for the labor market are significant and outweigh.
What has been The third party in the negotiations announced early Friday that its board had unanimously rejected the final offer presented in the negotiations.
– It is very unfortunate that LO has chosen to say no because the problems we have had have been very necessary to address and just because LO chooses to say no, these problems in the labor market do not go away. It is therefore regrettable that he does not have the strength to take this into account, said Mattias Dahl, deputy executive director of the Confederation of Swedish Business.
The Swedish business community also emphasizes the importance of safeguarding the Swedish model.
According to Martin Wästfelt, it is possible “in the formal sense” that PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Companies sign their own agreement without LO.
– We negotiate for our members and our unions and this is based on independent decisions, so we cannot control what decision LO makes. We believe that it is important to negotiate together, but we make independent decisions, he said at the press conference.
LO believes that the state investigation carried out into the renewal of the labor law has affected the negotiations. Under the January agreement, the commission’s proposal must be implemented through legislation if the social partners fail to reach an agreement.
Martin Wästfelt from PTK had the following to say about the impact of the investigation on the negotiations:
– The starting point for the parties has been that we must find a solution so that it does not become a reality. There we have put it aside together. The January agreement is designed so that the parties have an opportunity, it is the one that we have seized and reached, the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK.
Swedish business means that The social partners have wanted to address these issues even before the investigation started and in that regard it did not affect the negotiations at all. Mattias Dahl finds it difficult to see how the investigation could have been “like a wet blanket over the negotiations,” which means LO.
Mattias Dahl says the negotiations have meant give and take for all parties.
– I feel like we have accepted many of LO’s demands. But we have not agreed to everything and we have not met all of our demands. This has been a very tough negotiation that tackled technically complicated and emotionally difficult issues, he told the press conference.
Negotiations resumed on Thursday, after crashing once earlier this fall. All three parties consider the negotiations constructive.
– I want to emphasize that there have been constructive and good negotiations, Torbjörn Johansson, LO agreement secretary, said at a press conference on Friday afternoon.
– The questions have been too difficult in general. With the bill that has been lying, it went uphill and this became too difficult to overcome, he continued.
LO then did not want to enter what points could not be accepted.
