Police suspect that the same people are behind several false alarms about shootings and serious acts of violence in the district in recent months.
– Every day we have a high frequency of what we consider false alarms where everything from shootings to burning cars is alleged. Information that is simply not correct, local deputy chief of police Erik Åberg tells the newspaper.
Regarding the secrecy of the preliminary investigation, he cannot comment on who is suspected of being behind the false alarm, but says it costs the police time and resources.
False alarms also affect the conditions to prioritize between alarms.
– Now that we know the phenomenon, we value each call as always. But some of the facts are so spectacularly described that one can guess that they are not true. Regardless, we have to carry out controls in a large number of cases, says Erik Åberg.
