The Stockholm region has the lowest vaccination rate in the country. Only 2.65 percent of county residents have received their first dose, compared to more than five percent in many regions, which DN has previously reported.
The late deliveries mean that the region is now also forced to postpone the forecast for when all Stockholm residents will be vaccinated.
– As we have had delays in deliveries, we expect to be ready in mid-July, not mid-summer. But these are preliminary evaluations. Half a million of the doses we count are from vaccine manufacturers Curavac and Johnson and Johnson, and they are not yet approved by the European authority EMA. Unfortunately, a lot is up in the air, says Désirée Pethrus.
Stockholm region it is still in the first phase of vaccination. Only in mid-March is it expected that the second phase, which includes those over 65 and risk groups, can begin.
The second phase will begin in mid-March. Then, phase three awaits in April, where everyone over 60 is included and phase 4 for all the public begins in May. But it all depends on the deliveries, he says.

When should phase two elders receive information about vaccination?
– At the end of February the mailing will begin to people over 65 years of age. The letter contains information on how to reserve a vaccination. The information is in English, Swedish and instructions on how to proceed to read the information in nine other languages. Those who are the oldest will receive information first and then the letters will be sent on a descending scale as vaccines become available.
So 90-year-olds go before 80s?
– Yes, we follow the order of priority of the Public Health Agency. But if you are in a risk group, you also end up in phase two. A person who is seventy years old and at risk may present before someone older. I don’t know the exact details. But I believe that health centers know their patients and will meet the priorities.
Why not send a vaccination call?
– Because it can reduce the effectiveness of vaccination. This is a vaccine offer and is not required. If we have to call at times that do not fit, there will be no visits and reservation changes will be worked, which means that efficiency is reduced.

Where can you get vaccinated?
– Vaccinations will be carried out in all health centers, in the 400 actors who already vaccinate today and in the Karolinska University Hospital. We are also getting more players. We are also looking for larger venues such as churches and mosques, but it is not clear which ones will be used, says Désirée Pethrus.
