Skoglöf says that Västra Götaland’s IT department is currently focusing on solving the problem.

So far, the region has been able to stop all incidents, but the attacks continue, which Borås Tidning be the first to report.

– We sat down to analyze and monitor this 24 hours a day, as it is a continuous attack, says Maria Skoglöf, who is a department manager in the IT department of Västra Götaland.

“It can have serious consequences”

The region takes what happened seriously and has produced a police report. The IT department also maintains an ongoing dialogue with Säpo. Maria Skoglöf cannot go into what kind of actors are behind the attacks, because there is a high level of security in this.

– Most of our business is in healthcare. Therefore, it can have serious consequences if there are interruptions in our business, says Maria Skoglöf.

The Västra Götaland region was the target of a cyber attack last summer when employees were affected by so-called phishing or phishing, that is, when hackers try to obtain passwords and other information. A total of 35 to 40 email accounts were hijacked.

Maria Skoglöf also cannot say whether it is the same type of cyber attack as then or what type of information the attackers want to access.

– They are trying to access our IT environment, but we don’t know exactly what they are looking for, he says.
