When the last order arrives at 20:00, it will be scarce at Avenyn and Järntorget. On Christmas Day last year, the police had to take care of forty drunkards. This year they had to take care of three.
– It seems that people have adopted what the Public Health Agency recommends, says Christer Fuxborg, police press spokesman.
On Christmas Eve and at night, the police received about 600 calls, compared to about 1,000 in a normal year. This year, the police had to deal with seven drug offenses compared to last year when they took over 25.
“It has meant that our staff have been able to focus on other things besides going to the pub where people have been arguing,” says Christer Fuxborg.
Police are investing in traffic controls
Among other things, the police will focus more on traffic offenses.
– We have driven drunk, which on a Friday night should have been much more, says Fuxborg and says, among other things, that the police will be able to pay even more attention to traffic now that it is quieter in the city.
He continues:
– We will have many traffic controls. Many crimes are committed when criminals drive cars, he says.
Did you get any alarms about house parties?
– Nothing special when it comes to house parties. “I think it’s good that we can give the public some positive feedback now that it shows they followed the advice,” concludes Fuxborg.
