The reason, according to Anna Westerberg, a police press spokeswoman, is not related to the increased surveillance that is now also taking place in Stockholm due to the attacks in Nice and Vienna.
– This monitoring is carried out in another way. Among other things, by the police with reinforcement weapons that will be available at certain addresses at certain times, he says.
The cameras used to “investigate, prevent or deter crime and disturbances” and, according to Anna Westberg, should be seen as a complement to patrols.
– This weekend we have a long series of general meetings. We also know that the Extinction Rebellion network plans to demonstrate, but they don’t have a permit. All in all, this means that camera surveillance can become relevant, he continues.
Police will monitor parts of Stockholm city center with drones this weekend.
