Deniz Arda disappeared without a trace on November 13. The elite soldier’s last sign of life was a chat conversation he had with some colleagues. Then he would leave his home in central Stockholm for a 50 mile run.
But when the 31-year-old was to participate in an exercise in Arvidsjaur five days later, he never showed up.
The police have received several leads.
On Sunday night the search for Deniz by the rescue service ended. But search work is still done within the police and missing persons.
– We get a lot of advice and we have to check it. Then we look in every possible way to move forward, Roger Dahlkvist tells police.
Among other things, the police have tracked down a person who looked like Deniz near Södertälje. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene, but to no avail.
– We work twenty-four hours a day, but we don’t have an active search at the moment, but they are patrols, says Roger Dahlkvist.
The reason the police are no longer actively searching is that there are no concrete finds. At present, there is also no suspicion of a crime.
“Very large areas”
Therese Haugen leads the efforts of the missing peoples. She says they stay in close contact with the police and share advice with each other. Volunteer soldiers also participate in the search.
However, it is still unknown exactly where Deniz Arda disappeared.
– These are very large areas, so we are now working to reduce these areas. But we work with all the resources we can to achieve our common goal of finding Deniz.
