After an even first game, it was an exciting and decisive quarter-final at Hallstavik in the SM final at Speedway.

Rospiggarna could not resist second-placed Västervik, who will face the Indians in the semi-finals.

After an even match in Västervik, where the home team won 46-44, the second match started at least as evenly. The first four heats ended in a draw and Rospiggarna’s Latvian skier Andzejs Lebedevs started strong. He also became the best driver on the team with twelve points selected and two series wins.

But in the end it was Västervik who proved to be the strongest. Rospiggarna crawled closer, but in the twelfth set, Västervik scored with a five and decided the game for good.

The Smålanders, who only finished seventh in the regular season, were led by team captain Jason Doyle. The Australian took 13 points, Sam Masters and Linus Sundström came home with eleven each.

Västervik will face the Indians in the semifinals next week.

In the other quarterfinals, the Masars, Indios, and Leones advanced to the semifinals. All three teams took a big lead in the first quarter-final and were never threatened in the second leg meetings.
