The party continues in Stockholm’s nightlife, despite advice to keep your distance. Over the weekend, several inspections were carried out in Stockholm restaurants and a nightclub had to close.
Another nightclub where several celebrities were partying on Saturday night was seriously flawed.
– It was a huge congestion, I can only say that it is serious and that is why we closed, says the manager of the environmental administration department, Monika Gerdhem.
Last weekend, the Stureplan nightclubs reopened. Reports of wild parties and dancing sparked several reports against restaurants in Stockholm. It hasn’t stopped the party or the congestion.
The Fou nightclub had to close the night between Friday and Saturday when they broke the coronary restrictions of the Public Health Agency.
– There were a lot of people and the business guards worked hard to get people to sit down and take their seats. People stood up and ate and drank and there were several other shortcomings that made us need to shut down, says Monika Gerdhem, department head of environmental stewardship in the city of Stockholm.
It was not the only deficiency that was discovered during the 20 or so inspections that took place over the weekend. The Bergmans nightclub, where several celebrities were going to celebrate a birthday, also had several shortcomings. Among other things, the queue was packed and several guests got up and drank.

Some of the Bergmans guests got up and drank.
About a third of the restaurants inspected received some kind of reprimand or decision.
According to Monika Gerdhem, the clubs and restaurants are not good enough to cope with the restrictions.
– We found too many comments for it to be okay in terms of how long it has been going on, how many inspections we carry out, and all the information coming out of both the authorities and the media, he says.

Overcrowded queue outside Bergmans.
The most common deficiency in restaurants is that they are too densely furnished and that people sit too close to each other. Lack of information for guests on how to act to prevent the spread of infection is also quite common.
How serious is it really?
– In the clubs we visited this weekend, the situation was serious, I can only say that it is serious and that is why we are closing, says Monika Gerdhem.
Chief physician Johan Styrud is of the same opinion.
– I am very disappointed and terrified that people are not taking this disease seriously.
– It must be remembered that covid-19 is a deadly disease that has not ended, he says and emphasizes that we must all do everything possible to avoid a second wave in Sweden.
Do we need stricter restrictions to overcome this?
– Yes, absolutely, says Monika Gerdhem.
– Unfortunately, I think we have to tighten the rules, it should not happen again, says Johan Styrud.
