A military commander in Norrbotten has been sentenced to a daily fine for sexual harassment since he groped three lower-ranking women four times in Boden and Stockholm last fall. The man, who is 65, is said to have hugged the women, kissed them on the cheek and patted them on the butt, local media write.
The officer himself claims that he had no sexual intent with his actions, but the Luleå District Court disagreed with that.
Anna-Lena Hesse, communications manager for the Boden garrison, tells SVT Norrbotten that the case could lead to disciplinary action such as dismissal, relocation or pay deductions. However, no decision has been made since the verdict was just handed down.
– The Armed Forces should be a safe workplace for everyone. We do not tolerate rape or harassment in any form, says Anna-Lena Hesse.
The officer’s daily fine will be a total of SEK 26,400.
