A season without an audience?
Then the NHL is rumored to be planning a “mysterious Alaska experiment” at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada.
There, the league wants to play outdoor games in late February, according to Sportsnet.
The Feb. 20-21 game, between the Colorado Avalanche – Vegas Golden Knights and Boston Bruins – Philadelphia Flyers, is scheduled to be played in an open-air arena at the golf course next to Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada.
“According to multiple sources, the NHL will launch a mysterious experiment in Alaska in which four teams are part of a two-team, two-day outdoor weekend,” writes Elliotte Friedman, NHL whistleblower for Sportsnet.
According to Friedman, the main reason is that the NHL, unable to perform in front of an audience, tried to find places with beautiful views in the form of nature and scenery.
So far, the NHL has not confirmed the details of the Lake Tahoe games.
The NHL season begins according to the game schedule on January 13.
