The moving words of Ari Behn’s daughter: “Talk about suicidal thoughts”

It has been almost a year since author and artist Ari Behn, ex-husband of Norwegian princess Märtha Louise, took his own life, 47.

The death was greeted with surprise, not only within the family and the royal family, but throughout Norway.

Ari Behn and Princess Märtha Louise were married between 2002 and 2017 and had three daughters together. Now the eldest of them, Maud Angelica Behn, 17, chooses to participate in a Norwegian information campaign to prevent suicide.

– There is something important that I want to say to everyone who intends to kill themselves: they can get help and things can improve. There are many who want and can help you. Everyone in this world deserves love and joy, and so do you, says the daughter.

The campaign film has been published on Instagram, among other places, where Princess Märta Louise has also shared it with her followers.

“Our beautiful Maud joined the Helse Vest campaign to talk about suicidal thoughts”, writes Märta Louise on Instagram.

Helse Vest is a regional health company in Norway and the campaign will run until January.

– Never think that it is better if you are outside. I can promise you that, it’s so wrong. It is never a shame to ask for help. Please ask for help. Talking about suicidal thoughts can save lives, says Maud Angelica in the campaign film.

Heartwarming speech at dad’s funeral

The daughter has previously been praised for her speech at Ari Behn’s funeral, when she said, among other things:

– I ask you with all my heart, soul and body, ask for help. It is never embarrassing to ask for help, even a small one.

For her speech, the National Forum for Acute Psychiatry awarded her 25,000 Norwegian crowns, money that Maud Angelica donated in turn to an organization for family members of people who have committed suicide.

Earlier this year, the 17-year-old also received the “Bravest Woman of the Year” award from Tara magazine.

HAVE THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE? THERE IS HELP TO GET.

Always take suicidal thoughts or plans seriously. Stay calm, but act.

Speak up and dare to listen. Express your concerns and ask questions. Give concrete examples of why you think there is a risk of suicide. Show empathy and never judge, but maintain that everyone has their own responsibility for their actions.

A suicidal person needs to see someone from psychiatry right away.

Call 112 or go to an emergency room. If possible, don’t leave the person alone.

Suicide is often an impulsive act.

Suicidal people are often ambivalent about the latter. They can be influenced. Emphasize that help is possible and that things will get better.
