Roman Prymula has violated his own virus restrictions.
The other day, the Czech Minister of Health announced that the country’s restaurants must close. But then he himself went to one of the restaurants that would be closed, reveals the Blesk newspaper.
Roman Prymula is now fired from the government.
Prymula visited a restaurant that should have been closed due to pandemic restrictions imposed by his own government. Prymula, an epidemiologist who has only been health minister since September, also did not wear a mouth guard when he got into his car with a driver, reports Blesk.
In an interview with Respekt magazine, Prymula defends himself by saying that he had a work meeting at the premises and that at that time there was no activity at the restaurant.
But Prime Minister Andrej Babis is clear that Prymula cannot stay.
– When the care staff is in charge to save the lives of our citizens, this kind of thing is unforgivable, says Andrej Babis.
– We cannot order water and drink wine ourselves.
The Czech Republic is the country that, in terms of population size, has had the worst covid figures in all of Europe in recent weeks.
On Wednesday, Prymula announced that the Czech Republic will close parts of the partnership until November 3. Most shops and other businesses, including bars and restaurants, have been ordered closed and freedom of movement restricted.
Roman Prymula has been appointed Minister of Health since his predecessor, Adam Vojtech, resigned following criticism of handling the pandemic.
