Malin Björk (V) and Sara Skyttedal MEPs debated the issue at SVT’s “Morning Studio”.
Björk believes that the EU should help evacuate and distribute the refugees to other EU countries.
– There are people, many children, who live there. This is not a dignified way of life, he says in SVT.
“I find it depressing”
Skyttedal, on the other hand, does not believe that the best solution is to let the victims travel further in Europe.
– If you look at the camp, about 70 percent are from Afghanistan, people who generally lack protection reasons and therefore the right of asylum. These are mainly adult men. It’s about not treating a refugee camp differently, but that we don’t create this congestion in southern Europe with people who really lack asylum grounds moving to the EU, he says in SVT.
Malin Björk disagrees.
– I find it depressing that the situation in Moria today, with people sleeping on the streets and the 4,000 children there, has turned into adult Afghan men who do not need protection. We as politicians have a responsibility to create lasting politics.
More than 12,000 people in the Moria camp on Lesbos have been evacuated from there.
