Ahmadreza Djalali, father of two children, has been in prison for four years.

He was arrested in April 2016 by Iranian police while on a speaking tour in his original homeland.

Vida Mehrannia, Ahmadreza Djalali’s wife, says she had not spoken to her husband for several weeks. But Tuesday morning he called. The conversation may be the last.

The message was that he would be transferred to solitary confinement in another prison and that the death sentence would be carried out “shortly”.

– They have informed him that they will take him as soon as possible to another prison and the death penalty, says Vida Mehrannia.

He tried to contact the Foreign Office and Ann Linde on Monday, but without success. She is desperate.

– I do not know. I can’t describe it.

“I can’t describe it”

Christian Democratic Member of Parliament Lars Adaktusson has become involved in the case and is highly critical of Ahmadreza Djalali’s handling of Sweden.

– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has gone from demanding his release to saying that the death penalty should not be carried out. And that is a sign that is very strange. A person is innocent until proven guilty and given the opportunity to present his case in a fair and legally safe trial.

Expressen has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister Ann Linde. Ann Linde’s press secretary refers to the Chancellery press service, and the Chancellery press service says they will return.
