The family has found digital traces of Deniz Arda.
The last sign of life before the officer’s disappearance was at 11:17 a.m. on Friday, November 13.
– Then he saw a clip on YouTube, says his friend Henrik Ehrenfeldt.
Deniz Arda, 31, was reported missing last Wednesday, when he failed to show up for a military exercise in northern Sweden.
The specialist officer, who is a flag lieutenant and has a managerial position in the Armed Forces, lives in Södermalm, Stockholm. Deniz Arda is believed to have embarked on a long tour along the Sörmlandsleden on Friday 13 November.
Since yesterday, the incident has been investigated as a kidnapping.
Searched for applications
In Deniz Arda’s apartment there was his private phone, business phone, wallet and the like.
Henrik Ehrenfeldt, colleague and friend, and his family have managed to enter Deniz’s digital accounts to see if anything suspicious happened.
– We have checked the activity logs in a dozen different apps and have tried to access everything possible. The last digital track is at 11:17 a.m. on Friday, November 13. Then he saw a clip from Youtube. It was a recipe or something, nothing that stood out or was somehow strange. But we can’t see where he was or if he saw it from a laptop, desktop or mobile phone, says Henrik Ehrenfeldt.

“A priority task”
Deniz Arda’s digital movement pattern prior to her disappearance is something the police are also very interested in. On Thursday, the investigation into the kidnapping continued in full force.
– It is a priority task to map the person. The first step is when, where and how the plaintiff disappeared, says Ola Österling, a press spokesperson for the Stockholm police.
The officer is believed to have brought a training watch with him while on the run.
– TI forensic scientists work with digital leads and I know about your Garmin watch. The manufacturer has been contacted, but I don’t know what it led to, says spokesperson Ola Österling.

Found green reflective tape
The police have not conducted any search efforts, as the search area has so far been deemed too large.
However, the Missing People involved hundreds of people last weekend, including many of Deniz Arda’s military colleagues.
Volunteers have continued the search throughout the week.
– We are planning a large search effort to take place this weekend. As long as the police want our help, we will continue, says Therese Haugen, a volunteer with the Missing Persons task force.
Something that volunteers have found in Botkyrka, south of Stockholm, is a green reflective tape of the kind used by the Armed Forces.
– It is very interesting, but I have not heard of it, says Ola Österling, police spokesman.

All 400 soldiers participate in the operation on a totally voluntary basis.
“Nothing is excluded”
The police claim that several national resources are involved in the investigation of the kidnapping. But they don’t want to go beyond which.
Nor should there be any specific circumstances that make people suspect a crime from Wednesday.
– Sometimes there are synergistic effects on the knowledge of researchers. Through reasoning and experience, a new approach has been arrived at.
Do you think Deniz Arda is alive?
– It does not exclude anything, it will be my weekend guard on that issue, says Ola Österling, press spokesperson for the Stockholm police.
