On Thursday, Norwegian Leif Hagen passed away after decades in the service of pornography, VG reports.
When Leif Hagen retired in 2008, he had created a fortune through his Scandinavian Publishing Group company, which published pornographic magazines such as Aktuell Rapport and Cats.
Got rich on porn, but wasn’t interested
However, he does not seem to have been particularly interested in the content of his own newspapers.
– I don’t know a man who was less interested in porn than him. It was money that drove him, nephew Ståle Hagen tells VG.
Newspapers began to be sold by mail order in the 1970s and it quickly became a gold mine. Ståle Hagen says the first mail order porn magazine was ordered in 100,000 copies.
– The money flowed. We were surprised, he tells VG.
“He was very ill and lived overtime”
For the money, Leif Hagen bought a 300-square-meter luxury villa in Tyresö, south of Stockholm, where he lived for the last 30 years of his life.
His death was not a surprise.
– It was a bit expected. He was very ill and lived overtime, says the nephew to VG.
Leif Hagen grew up in Bjølsen in Oslo.
