It is about Hunter Biden, the son of Joe Biden, and his business in countries like Ukraine and China. A story that Donald Trump has repeatedly returned to in the electoral race.
The other day he pointed out in an election speech that even some Republican advisers have told him that it is crazy to put so much gunpowder on Joe Biden’s son. That the voters don’t care. But Trump, like 2016, follows his own instincts.
For Trump supporters, everything is also an example of double standards in the mainstream American media. Companies like CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post are accused of supporting Joe Biden in their news reports.
Everyone remembers the bomb that exploded in the final sprint in 2016 when James Comey announced that new emails had been found from Hillary Clinton’s server. Trump and company expected Tony Bobulinski to be that bomb by 2020.
Bobulinski is a former Hunter Biden business partner and they collaborated on a joint venture project with Chinese energy giant CEFC. In the end, nothing came out of everything, but in 2017 serious discussions took place.
Joe Biden has repeatedly said that he had nothing to do with his son’s businesses in countries like Ukraine and China. Or even discussed them.
But that’s what Tony Bobulinski says he did with Joe Biden in two meetings in 2017. He talked about this in a big interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News Tuesday night.
Bobulinski also claimed that Joe Biden’s brother Jim Biden, when asked how the Biden family dared to risk their reputation with this type of business, replied: “plausible denial”, that is, the family could deny everything in a way. credible if discovered.
No one is accusing Joe Biden of illegality, not even Tony Bobulinski. The question is whether you are lying about your knowledge of your son’s often dubious business activities in dubious countries. Was he himself involved?
Perhaps this is not a huge scandal, and little compared to much of what Donald Trump has done as president. The Trump family, for example, have benefited greatly from their luxury hotel in Washington during the Trump presidency.
But it’s still reasonably a story worth reporting for the New York Times or CNN as well. But it has hardly been mentioned there. Some Democrats have dismissed the whole thing as Russian disinformation, a charge that prompted Bobulinski to come forward.
All of this stands out in the eyes of many conservatives and Trump supporters. It is not too late to point out that the New York Times itself had a series of revelations about Trump’s possible connections to Russia before the 2016 election, something that ultimately could not be confirmed in the Robert Mueller investigation.
Or take the sometimes dubious testimonials given a lot of space before Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for HD. It was none other than lead witness Christine Blasey Ford who made big headlines, often with worse data than Tony Bobulinski has.
The United States is a deeply polarized country for 2020. This also applies to the media, where Fox News is joined by a host of right-wing news sites and television channels.
The mainstream media see themselves as the truth-telling in the middle and have long handled that role quite well. Many are the American voters in the fall of 2020 who do not agree.
