More and more people are infected with corona in the Norrbotten region. 126 people tested positive last week, compared to 94 people the week before.
– The situation when compared to Sweden in general is moderate. But it’s still a bit uncomfortable when it rises and the curves point upward, says Anders Nystedt, an infection control physician in the region.
Most of the positive cases have recently been registered in Gällivare, Luleå, Piteå and Boden.
– Gällivare again had a differential in the mining industry three weeks ago. And what we see now is probably a small increase after that. In Luleå and Piteå, things are pointing up, so we have to go out and persuade citizens to behave better, says Anders Nystedt.
Hospitalizations are also increasing
An increase in healthcare has also been observed. On Monday morning, five people were treated in the hospital and three people in the intensive care unit.
– Last summer they were 0 and 1 approximately, and now they are five, so it always overflows when you start to spread in society.
Infection control physician Anders Nystedt says that infection occurs throughout society and can be linked to workplaces, groups of friends, and various membership gatherings. He believes that many may have forgotten the seriousness of the situation.
– On the other hand, we do not see that young people are the ones who are largely infected, but it seems that all ages are up with us. I think these signs deserve to be addressed. It is very treacherous when some calm spreads in some municipalities, which have not had many cases, then it is very easy to relax.
Tegnell, Giesecke and Wallensten predicted the development: “There will be only a few cases.”
