The neglect occurred in 2019 when the horse suffered captivity, a diagnosis that according to the verdict is made on a horse that due to pain wants to relieve one or more legs, both stationary and moving. But since it was never treated, it in turn led to a limp that became so severe that the horse could only move if forced.
The negligence was discovered during an unannounced inspection by county administrative board inspectors, who then called a veterinarian.
According to the vet’s evaluation, the horse had had severe problems for a week, but the original problems had lasted four to five months.
I wanted to avoid contact with the vet.
The woman has stated that she wanted to avoid contacting a vet for a long time as she had lost confidence in vets, but would have done so if she had known how much the horse was actually suffering.
The Luleå District Court writes in the ruling that the horse’s condition has worsened due to lack of contact with the veterinarian, and that the woman has been indifferent to the suffering the horse has been subjected to.
The woman is sentenced for animal cruelty to a suspended sentence and a total of 2,000 SEK in fines.
